How to go to Srirangam from Hyderabad

Srirangam Ranganathar is Svayamvyakta -- on his own volition -- as an idol. He would appear likewise in eight places on earth -- Srirangam, Srimushnam, Venkatadri, Saligram, Naimisaranya, Totadri, Pushkara and Badri. Ranga Vimana is the first and the earliest of all these.

He appeared for Brahma's tapas and Lord Brahma installed this Vimana in Satyaloka . Ishvaku did lot of penance to install in Bhooloka - Ayodhya and his descendants worshipped including Rama. Lord Rama gifted this deity to Vibhishana who kept it down on banks or Cauvery for his prayers . The Lord stood ground from then. Vibishana has to return without the Lord to Lanka and he comes daily midnight to offer prayers to the Lord

Out of 4000 hymns 247 are in the praise of Srirangam in Nalayira Divya Prabhandam and all Alwars have praised this Lord

Srirangam is beautiful island surrounded by river Cauvery and Kollidam(tributary of Cauvery). Srirangam is 8 miles in length and 4 miles in breadth. The population of Srirangam is about 50 thousands. It is 7 km from Trichy junction and it also has a railway station. The island town is surrounded by 7 walls. Sri Ranganatha Swami temple is one of the famous vaishnava temples in India. There are 21 gopurams, the rajagopuram (principal tower) is the largest gopuram in south India.
